BEST BOOKS TO GIFT FOR THE HOLIDAYS!

With the holiday season rolling around, the annual gift shopping once again commences! Gift shopping is often tiring and costly (we’ve all been there), but this year, it doesn’t have to be. Everyone can take pleasure in the gift of a great book. There are many fantastic books out there, so there’s something for everything. It’s simply a matter of finding that perfect book.

So, without further ado … my 2017 holiday book giving guide!

For a “mom friend” (or your mom!), A Tangle of Knots by Lisa Graff. This book is bound to sweep your loved one away with its whimsical plot and almost magical world.  Everything about A Tangle of Notes is just absolutely beautiful and bleeds rainbow — its potpourri of viewpoints, the varying Talents of the dynamic characters, even the cover of the book! (And let’s be real; with a cover like that, who can resist?) A Tangle of Knots even comes some delicious cake recipes … so it looks like that takes care of the holiday dessert baking too!

For a hopeless romantic, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Ah, yes. Romeo and Juliet. The classic story of forbidden love. Adorned with beautiful language and one of the most well known works of Shakespeare, this tragic poem is not to go unread. Anyone looking for romance will swoon as the star-crossed lovers fall for one another. Oh, and also, one quick suggestion: you should gift some tissues to go along. They’ll most definitely be needed.

For someone who just wants to watch a movie, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han.  This novel might as well be a movie, because it has all the aspects of a great movie: it’s funny, sweet, romantic, and a guaranteed page turner … even for anyone who claims they don’t like to read! There’s no better book to get someone interested in reading. And, if they enjoy it, you can even interest them in the sequels, P.S. I Still Love You and Always and Forever, Lara Jean. (Or, if you want to go all out, just buy them the full set!)
For a future lawyer, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.  Perfect for an ambitious friend with big dreams, lawyer and devoted father Atticus Finch is sure to inspire your reader. Though it’s often seen as a book that’s lectured about in schools, To Kill A Mockingbird is so much more. It’s an eye-opening read that exposes racism and demonstrates its manifestations in a society, all through the lens of a young girl as she comes to age. If your reader is into fighting to the death for rights and equality, this is a must-read for them.

For someone who’s basically read every book there is, Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein. It’s a fantastic but heart-wrenching novel on the theme of female friendship and power. It’s not ridden with romance or boy drama, which adds to the impact of the theme even more. Code Name Verity is perfect for people who are constantly reading, because it’s not too well-known, and, in my opinion, extremely under-respected.

Keep in mind that these are only five of the millions of great books out there — there is so much to read in this world. But, maybe these few will help bring your loved ones joy this holiday season. Happy Holidays, everyone! I hope that the new year brings you happiness, good health, and lots of great books.
