This year we perused preeminent works,
From The Odyssey to Lord of the Flies.
Every piece of literature boasts its perks,
We discerned them all by the year’s demise:
Recall the victor of the Odyssey —
Odysseus, with gallant demeanor.
And to wrest from the monarch sovereignty,
Brutus potently slayed the king, Caesar.
Homer and Shakespeare had adept brains,
Yet Lee and Golding sought human nature.
In To Kill a Mockingbird, justice reigns,
Lord of the Flies proves sadistic danger.
From disparate, juxtaposed worlds of thought
Each author proffers their deep cognizance.
